The Network for Public Education furious over the approval of Betsy DeVos. Begins campaign to thwart any attempts to privatize schools.
The Network for Public Education (NPE) announced its campaign to oppose any attempts by the newly appointed Secretary of Education to privatize public education. In a letter to its 316,000 members, NPE vowed to continue the fight against the DeVos agenda at both the state and national level.
“Betsy DeVos put a spotlight on the ongoing threat to our democratically governed, community public schools. Public school advocates across the nation spoke out. Our campaign against DeVos generated over 600,000 emails and thousands of phone calls and letters to the Senate. A sad era for the country. How long are we going to be stuck with Trump and the fallout after he’s gone?

The only way to mitigate the effects of a Trump presidency is by having a strong opposition. Sadly, the Democrats have yet to figure out who their leader is. I hope they all soon unite and agree on the path forward.

The real resistance to Trump is grassroots organizations and not the Democratic Party.

Agreed. But eventually that grassroots movement will have to take the form of an organized party. Only then we’ll have the institutional resources to fight the current administration.

That new party will have to have a name. What will it be?

Interesting question. How about the Progressive Party of America? PPA. It’s got a nice ring to it. 😀

I like that. The PPA. It harks back to Teddy Roosevelt, the first progressive president. It’s ironic that he was a Republican. Today’s GOP would have both Teddy and Lincoln spinning in their graves. Heck, if he could, Teddy, for sure, would dig his way out of the grave and run for president again on the PPA’s ticket in 2020.
After the last election, having a dead president come back to life to run for president again shouldn’t shock that many people. Although it would probably cause a lot of heart attacks in the Alt-Right, white supremacist dominated GOP.
Maybe Teddy could convince Lincoln to come back too and run as his VP.
