THE D.C. ‘SCHOOL REFORM’ FIASCO: A COMPLETE HISTORY

(Civil Rights lawyer and education activist Mary Levy and I recently wrote an article for The Washington Monthly about 10-year regime of Michelle Rhee and Kaya Henderson, and I also blogged about the cheating scandal that both worked hard to bury. This post combines both pieces, and I hope you will circulate it widely to anyone who continues to believe that DC’s ‘test-and-punish’ approach to improving schooling works. The education establishment wants everyone to believe that DC is a success story. It is not. To the contrary, it’s a story of widespread failure and untold damage to human potential.)
