Watch L.A’s Steve Zimmer Take Down the Billionaire Boys Club

Diane Ravitch's blog

Steve Zimmer, a 17-year-veteran teacher in Los Angeles (he began via Teach for America), was recently elected President of the LAUSD school board.

In this speech to the AFT, he describes the many millions spent to defeat him.

I have known Steve for a few years, and I have always thought of him as soft-spoken. He is definitely NOT soft-spoken in this video. He goes after the billionaires who hope to privatize public schools, and he fights back, with a roar.

He unapologetically defends teachers. He is a firebrand fighting for collaboration.

You’re welcome. But the war isn’t over and the Billionaire Boys Club will be back for every election to take over the majority of the L.A. Unified School Board. If they achieve their goal of controlling a majority of seats, they will ignore the few minority seats they don’t control.

The lesson to be learned here is that what happened in that one Los Angeles school board race is happening in every state in the country from school boards, to mayors offices of all the major cities and even some of the minor ones, to state legislatures, governors mansions, the U.S. Congress, elected federal and state judicial positions, and even the White House. And even appointed local, state and federal judges are at risk of being controlled by the Oligarchs because one they own the elected officials responsible for appointing these judges, it is predictable what will happen next.

It is obvious to me that the United States and even other countries are mired in a war to end democracy as we want to know it, and many of the people don’t even know they are being fooled to vote for candidates supported by the Billionaire Boy Club (there is one woman and she is a Walton), candidates who are subservient to the oligarchy cabal. A vote for a Billionaire Boy Club supported candidate is a vote to bring an end to republics around the world.

I think it is safe to say that the Canary in the coal mine is Pearson. If we look carefully at countries where Pearson is well established and doing business without many restrictions, we know the names of the republics that are the most under threat. We could also match the Pearson list with countries where Bill Gates is pouring most of his foundation money.

        Scary thoughts indeed.
